he Muenchberg terroir faces South, hugging the slopes of a crescent-shaped plot so as to gain maximum benefit from its exposure to the sun. This location means it has a unique micro-climate. The soil and subsoil are composed of 250 million year old sediments. The soil is poor and made up of sandstone and volcanic sediments, but its drainage is excellent and the soil is very quick to warm up. Since this is not very fertile land, it is extremely well-suited to Riesling.
Golden yellow colour. Mineral, fruity, elegant nose. On the palate, this comes across as a traditional ‘terroir’ wine, austere, powerful, still young. The fruit character is a little masked by a touch of liveliness. This is a wine to be cellared for the time being. Guide Gilbert et Gaillard 2008
